INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD – ONE TRIBE INITIATIVE IN COLLABORATION WITH POWERED VOICES

Introduction:

International Day of the Girl Child is celebrated on 11th October every year, with the objective to raise awareness about the challenges that girls face and promote their empowerment. In collaboration with Powered Voices, One Tribe Initiative organized an event to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child. The focus of the event was to educate girls on menstrual hygiene and distribute sanitary pads to them.

Event Details:

The event was held on 11th October 2022, and it was attended by 35 girls from Giant Trust Academy. The event started with a brief introduction of the International Day of the Girl Child and its significance. Then, the girls were taught about menstrual hygiene, and the importance of maintaining cleanliness during menstruation. The girls were also taught how to count their menstrual cycle, and how to keep track of their menstrual health.

The One Tribe Initiative team distributed free sanitary pads to the girls, and they were shown how to use them correctly. The girls were also informed about the importance of changing pads regularly, and how to dispose of them properly. The team also demonstrated the proper way to wash hands after changing pads.

The event was interactive, and the girls had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify any doubts they had about menstrual hygiene. The team provided a safe and supportive environment where the girls could share their experiences and concerns about menstrual health.

Impact:

The event was successful in achieving its objectives, and the impact was evident in the feedback received from the girls. They expressed their gratitude for the informative session and the free sanitary pads provided to them. The girls also reported feeling more confident and empowered to manage their menstrual health.
