ABOUT KUZA AMANI FELLOWSHIP

The KUZA AMANI Fellowship is a unique opportunity for young leaders to immerse themselves in peacebuilding and conflict resolution initiatives. Designed by OneTribe Initiative in collaboration with IPHRD-Africa and Generations for Peace Nigeria, this fellowship program aims to empower young minds, enhance their skills, and inspire them to become effective peacebuilders and agents of change in their communities for Youth in the Horn of Africa and West Africa Region: Cameroon, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan, Nigeria, and Uganda.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

We are looking for motivated individuals who meet the following criteria:

Applicants must be citizens from and living in Cameroon, Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Nigeria, and Uganda
Applicants should be between the age of 18-30.
Applicants should hold or working towards a university degree from a recognized institution.
Applicants should have a demonstrated knowledge, commitment, and/or professional experience on conflict resolution and peace processes.
Applicants should demonstrate past and future commitment to working towards peace.
Applicants should be interested or working in making change in their community/country.
Applicants should have a passion and ability to work cooperatively with peers.
Applicants should have high standards of personal and professional conduct (with no criminal record)
Applicants should be fluent in spoken and written English.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

By joining the KUZA AMANI Fellowship, you will:

Gain valuable knowledge and practical skills in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and social cohesion.
Engage in hands-on experiences, including community dialogues, mediation, and peacebuilding initiatives.
Collaborate with a diverse group of like-minded individuals, fostering a network of young peacebuilders.
Participate in workshops, and seminars to deepen your understanding of peacebuilding practices.
Design and implement small-scale peacebuilding projects that contribute to positive change in your community.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

The program structure and activities of the training program are designed to provide participants with a holistic and transformative learning experience. The following outlines the key components and activities:

Orientation and Introduction: The program begins with a comprehensive orientation and introduction session, where participants are familiarized with the training program's objectives, expectations, and schedule. They will also have the opportunity to connect with fellow participants and program facilitators.
Theoretical Learning: Participants will engage in workshops, seminars, and lectures that cover various topics related to peacebuilding and conflict resolution. These sessions will provide a theoretical foundation and enhance participants' understanding of concepts such as conflict analysis, peacebuilding frameworks, dialogue facilitation, mediation, and negotiation skills.
Experiential Learning: The training program includes field visits to conflict-affected areas, peacebuilding organizations, and community projects. These experiential learning opportunities allow participants to witness and engage with real-world peacebuilding efforts, gaining firsthand exposure to different contexts and approaches.
Skill-Building Activities: Participants will participate in skill-building activities designed to enhance their practical abilities in conflict analysis, dialogue facilitation, mediation, and negotiation. These activities may include role-plays, simulations, case studies, and group exercises, providing participants with hands-on experience and opportunities to apply their knowledge.
Cross-Cultural Exchange: The program provides opportunities for participants from diverse backgrounds to engage in cross-cultural exchange. Joint activities, discussions, and sharing sessions enable participants to learn from each other's perspectives, cultural contexts, and experiences, fostering mutual understanding and appreciation.
Mentorship and Guidance: Throughout the program, participants will receive mentorship and guidance from experienced peacebuilding practitioners. Mentors will provide support, feedback, and personalized advice to help participants in their learning journey and the development of their individual action plans.
Reflection and Evaluation: Regular reflection sessions will be incorporated into the program to encourage participants to reflect on their learning, experiences, and personal growth. These sessions will provide an opportunity for participants to evaluate their progress, identify areas for improvement, and refine their approaches to peacebuilding.
